There is no A/C so the room was uncomfortable given a heat wave in Seattle. Service was really great, as was the beer/wine. Been here before, so was all a bit disappointing, given my expectations.
Matt's is my go-to for everything from a solo lunch date at the bar and special occasions to where I take out-of-town guests when I want to give them a quintessential Pacific Northwest dining experience. It's a calm, sophisticated respite amongst the hustle and bustle of Pike Place Market and the food, beverages, and service is always spot-on.
I love Matts. Never had a bad meal there... until tonight. Fish and sausage in the seafood stew was way overcooked. Oysters and dessert were fabulous. Just a little surprised at the poor technique with the main dish.
We booked a reservation and fought the parade traffic and parking to get your establishment only to find out upon entering that you could not honor our reservation because of a computer problem. No one called us to warn us or to cancel. Other patrons were dining and eating while you told us you could not seat us. No alternatives were offered. No rainchecks issued. The service was abhorrent.
Ambience and food are fantastic! We met friends there for dinner and enjoyed the octopus (my friend said she it was one of those dishes you dream about), oysters, halibut, lamb and salmon. Bartender was SO nice but our server while nice, didn't come back to check on us and at the end of the night, she left before we were done or had paid. My husband had to take our check up to the bartender. No issue with someone getting off work but she (or the manager) could have told us.
