While visiting London, what could be more perfect than planning tea after church? My friends and I initially set out for high tea, but the lunch menu was so tempting that we ended up changing our plans. We started with delicious Butternut squash soup, the Chef's Choice appetizer, and baked Figs with prosciutto. The dishes were perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. We then enjoyed the Pea and ravioli and the Christmas dinner, both of which were exceptionally prepared. The service was fantastic, and we had a lovely view of Diana's park. I am so happy that we decided to dine here, and although the trays of petit fours and sandwiches looked delightful, the Chef truly outdid himself! I highly recommend making reservations in advance.
I was extremely disappointed with my experience at the restaurant. The Afternoon Tea that was once held in the Orangery, and was excellent, has now been moved to the Pavilion while the Orangery undergoes renovations. The Pavilion is really just a fancy shed, and the whole event has been downgraded. The scones and cream came with store-bought jam instead of homemade, and the cream was not even Rodda's. The tea was served in tea bags instead of loose leaves, with a very limited selection, and the teacups were chipped. The pastries and sandwiches were underwhelming, and the service was subpar - we didn't even get our napkins until the end of the meal, and no one offered to refill our tea. At £50 per person, including service, it was not worth the money. It seems like the restaurant is now just a tourist trap, and there was no sign of any royal presence.
We came here for my daughter’s first official afternoon tea. It was amazing and they did such a great job taking care of us. I loved the venue, the tea, and the food. I highly recommend this place.
I bought my 2 Australian friends for afternoon tea, the food was acceptable but the service was diabolical, to the point of rudeness by the staff, I have written a complaint letter directly to The Pavilion but guess what no reply, this venue is attached to an iconic London Palace and should be able to provide better service, the staff certainly need training. Perhaps this review will be read by the management and they will investigate.
