We ordered the egg, bacon and cheese burger and the fish and chips. The burger was large and well-made, featuring a lamb patty, beetroot, and onion which was a pleasant surprise. The fish and chips were also generous in portion size, freshly made, and perfectly seasoned. Despite reading some negative reviews, we had no complaints about our experience. The affordable price of $20 for the two of us, with no public holiday surcharge, was a bonus. We would definitely consider returning for the cheap and delicious food.
The restaurant offers very reasonable prices and excellent customer service. The food is decent, but they provide all the essentials for a hearty start to a day of hiking.
Maybe all the Aussie chippies are so good, but these far surpassed every chippy we visited in the UK over the past 20 years. Perfectly made chips, really beautiful fish and dough that is thin enough not to dominate and thick enough to hold the fish...together. All served quickly and efficiently. Last night in Leura we talked about going to the restaurant for one last night in the Blueys, and both decided we'd rather come somewhere with chic tablecloths.
I was looking for a place to eat before on the train back to Sydney after all day hiking around Blue Mountains. I was hungry and needed something essential to eat. The Village Takeway matched the bill, although I didn't actually take the food away!
Explorer bus stopped in Leura. I just needed some food like about 3:00. Didn't like the chocolate box tea room. Had fish and chips here. All right. Not unusual. Not much customer engagement, but the fish was very good and did the job.
