Oulton Hall - Leeds

My first review I placed at the time seems to have disappeared! Spa day with my friend as a birthday treat and extremely disappointed! The light lunch was a so called buffet…. Consisting of a bit of cucumber, grated carrot, half a slice of meat, bits of pitta bread, coleslaw etc etc. the only good thing was the cheese cake at the end. After speaking to other guests we should have booked the afternoon tea at least they had some decent food! The staff in the restaurant were lovely though. We went down to the spa and went into the changing rooms where the toilets were filthy, toilet paper all over the floor, things which had been knocked off the wall and left on the floor! The showers weren’t very clean either! We went for a treatment and yeah it was just ok. My friend had her treatment and was scratched on a couple of occasions by the girl who did it who just laughed it off and said that she had just had her nails done! We were then taken into the quiet room where there were used towels thrown on the beds, used cups littered around the floor! Not very pleasant and relaxing! We decided to go for a cup of tea at the reception area. I asked the receptionist who told us to sit round the corner and she would be with us in a minute. After waiting 15 minutes I popped my head back round to see if we could have our drink. The girl I originally spoke to was no longer there. There were 3 or 4 girls stood around the reception area just chatting so I asked one of the girls who looked me up and down like I was a piece of dirt and told me to sit back round there and she would do it when she could in a very abrupt manner, to which I went back to my friend who had also heard her and we went and got changed to leave. Upon leaving my friend went to reception to inform them that we were going and did we need to sign anything etc, again the reception was full of girls standing about and chatting, the girl my friend spoke to basically told us to go and ushered us out with her hands! I am really disappointed as I came here last year for my friends hen do and stayed at the hotel for the weekend and it was brilliant! This time was just awful and I certainly won’t be coming back or recommending the place to anyone! Customer service is a big thing for me and the customer service we received that day was appalling!

Crowded noisy impersonal service microwaved over done hot food muesli etc stale left before breakfast on final day of visit went to local Tesco better food and better value

Just had a fantastic meal at the Calverley Grill. We were greeted by the wonderful Oliver as we entered the restaurant,he showed us to our table and created a wonderful atmosphere in the restaurant from the start. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave us great advice and wonderful service. The food was absolutely fantastic and well worth the money. Presentation and taste was on par with any top restaurant. Here are a few pictures of the delicious food. Thank you for making our evening...we will definitely be back!

Always looked after by amazing staff it’s like being at home with a touch of luxury. The reception staff are always accommodating and youssef and nick make that experience extra special and always make sure i’m comfortable and have what i need. i love the revamp of modern bathrooms and that it’s accessible for my needs. When dining I couldn’t ask more from such a charming guy as oliver who’s always tries to make the experience enjoyable and accommodating as well as having an amazing champagne on ice that’s my favourite. Love this place feels like my family and never have to worry about anything
