We visited on Tuesday night when the cafe only serves pizzas. they have a more extensive menu at the weekend and at lunchtime, but we do not have the chance to try that. it was always busy when we pass. the pizzas are very good. I had a particularly interesting local variation with boudin noir and apples...Neapolitans now look away! these are French pizzas....lots of beautiful local ingredients, beautiful weine of the pichet and cherry service. pizzas are also available for taking. there is not much to eat away in rural france, so this can be practical to know if they are on holiday.
Four of us visited this restaurant on Monday, 29th June for a pizza. There was a wide choice and our pizzas were freshly cooked for us, and were very good. We all chose different desserts which were delicious. Despite our lack of French, we managed...to let the lady who served us know that we enjoyed our meal.
Found this place by chance as we drove through La Haye du Puits. Unlike the previous reviewer, I wasn't upset by the lunchtime menu. I guess I'm from a long line of peasants. (By the way, what is peasant food? Pizza? Chilli? In the UK,...oysters and salmon were considered peasant food in mediaeval times . The menu was perfectly adequate; service was excellent, and appropriately fast. (I'm always a bit suspicious of places that present food very quickly it suggests too much reliance on the microwave! . Pricing was reasonable, and the staff were friendly. We sat outside in the pavement area and watched the world go by. A very pleasant experience. By the way, check out their reviews on tripadvisor.fr they're mostly very good indeed.
We first visited this place for pizza late one night on our way home from the beach and the pizza was superb wafer thin, heavily loaded, and very subtly seasoned. A real delight and reasonably priced. We returned for their lunch menu (not realising...pizza is not available on the lunch menu) and suffered the usual array of peasant food that most places in this region seem to imagine is acceptable for tourists. So stick to the evenings and you'll have a very pleasant experience.
