Contribuiți la feedbackI saw Mister Munro while out exploring the laneways of Melbourne, and I thought it looked elegant and interesting. Deciding to check it out for dinner, I made a booking and looked forward to seeing what they had to offer. The interior was beautiful and chic with plush seating areas and a modern and sophisticated dining room. Two additional rooms are available for functions and also look lovely. The green, black and white colour scheme is welcoming and it certainly has a feeling of luxe. Unfortunately the place was very quiet. Just a few small groups dining in, which is a shame as the venue has huge potential. The staff were lovely and very hospitable, but they weren't exactly run off their feet. <br/ <br/ The menu is centred around fresh local produce, and what we ordered was quite tasty. Scallops were cooked perfectly and the ravioli entree was delicious and generous. Our mains of salmon and chicken with lentils were also excellent. The plating was attractive and the flavours worked really well together. We finished with a meringue dessert which was layered over sponge cake and berries. This was a lovely dessert with plenty of freshness and not too much sweetness. So pretty and appetising, and something I would order again. <br/ <br/ I really enjoyed my evening at Mister Munro. It really is a gorgeous venue that has the potential to be something special. It's big open space and beautiful decor is begging for a large crowd to bring some life to the atmosphere here. It wouldn't take much for people to come here as the food is divine, the bar is well stocked and the staff are lovely.
Great place to have your weekend buffet breakfast and they do offers good selection of food and drinks. We shall return another time.
We recently discovered Mister Munro when we decided to randomly walk down an alleyway, as you do in Melbourne. The interior is classy and stylish, and I absolutely love the decor. This bar is perfect for a late night drink or two. We visited during happy hour (or, “don’t tell james” hour) and had a delicious red for $5 what a find.
Mister Munro is an Art Deco inspired restaurant bar and lives in a building that has been renowned for in the hospitality world since 1880. Today the setting is slick yet vibrant boasting a sophistication that is welcoming to all.<br/ <br/ The menu features Modern Australian cuisine that applauds locally grown produce. To match, a solid Victorian beverages list highlights some of Victoria’s best wineries alongside cocktails, beer and spirits.<br/ <br/ We loved tasting our way through the menu.<br/ <br/ To start the grilled local half shell scallops were beautiful. Exceedingly fresh, the natural sweetness of the scallops shined through and was highlighted by the accompanying green chilli and basil butter, spring onions and a dash of lime.<br/ <br/ The dish of tempura zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta cheese and served with crunchy hazelnuts atop luscious tomato fondue was similarly delicious. The batter encasing the zucchini flowers was ethereally light and crisp while the stuffing was rich and flavoursome. The dish was a delight to eat.<br/ <br/ For mains, the Yarra Valley 200g chargrilled eye fillet steak was a crowd pleaser. Displaying a mastery in the manner the steak was cooked, the inch thick cut of eye fillet steak was cooked perfectly from end to end. A light searing ensured that the steak was lined with a thin crisp layer packed with caramelised beef flavour. We loved the accompaniments of crispy goose fat salted potatoes and rich red wine jus. <br/ <br/ The Pistachio crusted 3 point Millawara lamb rack was perfection. The lamb was roasted to a tender and juicy pink and was exceedingly flavoursome and worked wonders with the accompanying mint chutney.<br/ <br/ Our evening concluded on a sweet high. Whatever you do, do not go past the Baked chocolate chip and peanut butter cookie. Think grilled chocolate brownie served in a skillet topped with oozy marshmallow, a generous scoop of chocolate ice cream and crunchy, salty pretzels. It’s a thing of beauty.<br/ <br/ Mister Munro pleases with modern, delicious dining in the heart of the CBD Perfect for an intimate dinner for two, a hearty feast with the family or over a celebratory meal with big groups.
