I work as a Nanny and often pop into Brandy with one or both of the children I look after. I have used the takeaway service as well as eating in. During the school terms, this is an extremely busy cafe as it is situated within 1km of 5 private schools and a couple of preschools. Despite this, I usually have my takeaway coffee and the children's hot chocolates within 5 minutes.<br/ <br/ The staff are friendly and always acknowledge the children. Now that it is school holidays and they are less busy, they have taken the time to have a more in depth chat. I sat inside yesterday with both children and they gave each of them an extra marshmallow with their hot chocolates and my large soy cappuccino was perfect. I am extremely fussy when it comes to my coffee and Brandy do very good coffee consistently.<br/ <br/ I am yet to have a meal there, but the children and I have had cake or macarons and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Whenever I go in, there are always regular customers there and for such a small cafe, they seem to fit a lot of people in. You can also select to eat outside as they have two large tables with bench seats which is perfect if you have pets or the weather is nice.
I quite like Brandy. First visit and won’t be my last- I love the decor and it’s small size. It is a quiet relaxed place to enjoy a tasty meal. I had the eggs Benedict which was adequately portioned and tasty. Staff were friendly too.
I must admit that the most recent Zomato reviews of this cafe acted much like a deterrent for me. Especially after reading comments about the lack of hospitality. However, I thought I’d give this place a shot because the earlier reviews (last year) were positive and I wanted to try more cafes in Kew. I’m happy to report that the level of service was great and that staff were friendly. I came in the afternoon today (Wednesday, weekday) and it wasn’t too busy. I liked the old school music playlist playing in the background. The interior was modern and clean, with two high but thin walls of greenery adding some freshness to the ambience. The cappuccino and latte that we ordered were delicious and more importantly, I found the food to be fantastic. The ‘Whipped strawberry hotcake’ was sweet, but not overly sweet. It was well balance and the portion was generous. The ’Smashed avocado’ on the other hand, was befitting of the classic breakfast. I appreciated the extra spreads of butter on each of the crunchy sourdoughs as well as the fact that the cafe didn’t mix the tomato salsa and goat’s curd into the avocado. (You have the option of placing these ingredients to one side if you’re not a fan of eating them together) It’s not a big deal, but it would be nice to see this cafe introduce some different lattes like matcha or tumeric into its drink menu something lots of Melbourne cafes have begun adopting. All in all, we had a wonderful experience.
Great scrambled eggs with ham hock and chili<br/ Friendly and fast service, enjoyed the magic coffee, good to get out of the hustle and bustle of main roads and city etc, I'll be back for the house made muesli/Bircher next time I'm visiting the area<br/
