17th Street Crab House - Kokomo

After reading so many good reviews, I was excited to try their food. I 'd heard so many good things about their service and food. However my experience was very disappointing. I was the only customer there when I picked up my to go order, but the young man behind the counter had no interest in being a good employee. He was very short with his responses, never greeted me, and never said one thank you. I offer him a have a good night. And he just ignored me and sat back down.I ordered the bourbon chicken, and was excited to try it because its the only place around here to offer it.The chicken was very poor quality and very dry. The whole bowl was soaked in the bourbon sauce to the point that the rice was floating. Not at all what bourbon chicken should be. The rice itself was good, but the rest of the dish was lower quality than a microwave dinner. I wish they had lived up to the hype.

What an absolute joy and treat to have this gem close to home! We have been here several times and the food is absolutely amazing! The texture, seasoning...EVERTHING is on point! I feel like I am walking into a New Orleans Mom and Pop shop with exquisite food! The owners and people that work here are so nice! Having this kind of amazing seafood in Indiana is such a treat is priceless, I hope they never close :

Yum! I ordered the crab boil. I liked that the shrimp texture was right. The shrimp texture reminded me more of an Alabama royal red though a little bit smaller. It was not rubbery and off color like you sometimes get in chain restaurants. The crab was not fishy and cracked easily. If I got it again, I would ask if I can get the butter on the side because it was quite messy and they don't skimp on the butter. The seasoned butter is unlike anything I have tried and I could not figure out the blend of ingredients but it was packed with flavor. The staff were pleasant and fun. Definitely a must try and the next time I am in Kokomo on the right day, I will be back to try other things.

I love this place, I go all the time but their location changed over the street a little to 1135 17th street, it hasn't updated on google yet!
