Iyara Thai - Jennings Lodge

Iyara Thai is a truly exceptional restuarant. It really transcends Thai. It is infused with fresh Northwest ingredients that are obviously carefully chosen. The atmosphere is breathtaking 30' ceilings with contemporary decor that is relaxed and inviting. Really clean throughout. The food is the best Thai food I've had in Portland, easily. (Having traveled repeatedly to Thailand I have got to say I enjoy this even more, because everywhere on the menu there are upgraded items and high end touches that aren't available in Thailand. The Spicy Beef Salad has assorted greens with tender slices of beef marinated in a sour and spicy sauce with lemongrass and mint. Usually one finds iceberg lettuce in this dish. Pad Kee Mao noodles, Thai Style Barbecue Chicken, Fish cakes, Massaman Curry, Garlic Basil Beef, and others? Everything that I've tasted is fresh and delicious. They don't overdo the spiciness or sweetness? Everything is well balanced. The service is extremely personable and friendly. The owner is hands on involved in the operation. This place also has a small, hip bar with happy hour specials. A very cool place to hang out. I can't think of a better restaurant of any cuisine in Portland. They deserve to be jam packed all the time. The location is very convenient and there's free parking in the building's garage
