Basil Thai Restaurant Bar

I did a takeout.The entree was good, House Curry with Chicken. However, the portions were OK….If you were an elf. It was a complete rip off. Also, they must be very short of staff. Almost all of the empty tables were not bused. I wanted to sit at the bar Until my takeout order is ready. Yeah and the tables around me were filthy.

I ordered the veggie Larb salad described on the menu as, “Red onions, cilantro, and roasted herbal rice tossed with lime dressing.” I received a plate of random vegetables in a fishy tasting brown sauce, no rice. I asked about the “roasted herbal rice” and was told that it was a “very fine grain” and was “included in the dressing.” I argued, because that’s not how it was described at all. The waitress asked if I wanted something else so I ordered fried rice and she took the salad away. When I received the bill I was charged for both meals. When I asked her to remove the salad she said she couldn’t take it off my bill just because I didn’t like it. I argued again that it wasn’t made as described and she just shrugged. I ended up paying for both and plan on disputing with my credit card.

We were going to concert and BB’s was full so we walked across the street. Potstickers were fine. The chicken satay was terrible. The chicken tasted like it was cooked in old grease and the peanut sauce was horrible. Then came the Garden Vegetable dish with rice. There was very little vegetables so we were thankful we had them add shrimp. The brown sauce has similar taste to the bad grease taste on chicken sauté. So now I’m thinking they sautéed the chicken in same horrible brown sauce. I don’t recommend at all. The service however was the only good thing here. Perhaps I ordered the wrong dishes.

Dim lit relaxing ambience, hostess was very nice and welcoming. I had a question about the menu was caught between 2 dishes and she immediately went for the one I mentioned first. Then I had to pick a spice level 1-5 , I asked which she would recommend and said 2. they have little emojis above to describe the spice level and 2 looked about right for me. I ordered and yes it came out and was absolutely delicious and just at the level of spice I could dare handle!!! very very tasty, highly recommend .
