Contribuiți la feedbackWhile not quite the same as what you'd find in Philadelphia, this restaurant in Irving is the best option for satisfying your craving for a Philly cheesesteak. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and I only had to wait five minutes during the busy lunch rush to get my hot and fresh South Philly sandwich. The prices are fair and the atmosphere is enjoyable. I highly recommend switching out the tortilla chips for waffle fries with a side of spicy ranch. I've been coming here for three years and will continue to do so whenever I'm in the mood for a Philly cheesesteak in the area.
If you have ever lived in Austin, you will truly appreciate the greatness of this restaurant! If you haven't, it's basically the Texas version of a cheesesteak, with a delicious introduction to cherry peppers and jalapenos. The waffle fries are a must-try as well. However, if you don't have that Austin connection, just know that it's a solid cheesesteak with minimal frills. Make sure to get your Wiz, Japs, Cherry Peppers... it's delicious! The only downside is that the place could use a good cleaning. I give it 3 stars (one of those is for nostalgia).
Pretty good and decent prices. these are served on hoggie style bread, they have original/ normal style cheese stakes but also some totally non traditional options. I ordered one with peppers and my husband got a French one that came with sauce. I'm from NY and a lot of our hoggies have the option of coming wet or dry so it reminded me of that. I really liked the frys but it was just so much food for me that I only got to eat two frys before eating to much, these are a great size to split/ share with a friend or save for later.
I've been here a couple times and I do believe the owners have changed since I last visited. Not anything significantly has changed, but they did away with their lunch special which is disappointing. I always get the Texican with waffle fries...this time I had 2 jalapeños and too much meat, no onions in sight...just lacking flavor since all there was really was bread and meat. I do still think they're an alright Philly cheesesteak place, but you have different options, I expect to see those options on my sandwich.
I am not a big fan of this restaurant. I think it's because the food just isn't a good fit for me. I prefer a traditional Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwich and don't need jalapenos or other Texas-style items. The service was also lacking. The cashier who took our order was not helpful and seemed uninterested in answering our questions. Our food was brought to our table by a slightly friendlier person, but the staff at Fire House Subs nearby was much better. I like trying new places, but I won't be returning to this restaurant.
