Tje eating was pleasant and the service was excellent.
Wonderful staff and good food. The agave margarita was delicious! Watch out for the salsa, though. It is super hot! The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was informal. We had taco salad, cheese and onion enchiladas, and two tamales. The servings were generous and all of the food was very tasty.
Great service. The owner is friendly and always helpful. My cup of water stayed full and the prices are affordable.
There is still magic at Spanish Village. Even though there was a power failure because of a thunderstorm in the area, they managed to pull off a flawless lunch for our party of 8. Old school Houston institution, just make it happen. Check it out.
This is the latest reincarnation of the 1953 version which is, in my opinion, an even better version than the original. While the chips leave a little to be desired (quite thin, don't seem to be real broken up tortillas) the rest of the food is just as you'd like: spicy, well prepared, and delicious. My chalupas were mounds of lettuce tomatoes and generous portion of guacamole atop real tortillas (you can tell I like the real corn ones, flour tortillas seeming to be an Americanized version from the 60's). One of the guests had tortilla soup which he proclaimed to be the best he'd ever had. Enchiladas were a bit gloppy with too much chili atop. Otherwise, the place itself it great and having access to Spotify for Mexican mariachi classics is sublime. Really a great place in a very funky, transitional neighborhood which has kept its slightly tacky ambiance.
