El Greco - Gütersloh

We were visiting the restaurant based on a recommendation with a larger group for a family gathering. Unfortunately the place is bad.It started with the fact that we were placed in the middle of the restaurant instead of having a separate room as previously agreed. As we were a large group and did not arrive all at exactly the same time, getting drinks ended up being a problem as the staff did not come by too often. Once we managed to order our food and appetizers. The appetizers appears quickly but no food was provided to go with the dips. So we had to wait and ask for food. In the meantime my red wine appeared which was only so so. The food was bland. The moussaka I have ordered had no taste to speak of. The pork ordered by another family member was not done and had to be send back. The varieties plate was ordered without liver but was delivered with liver. Of course also no-one was interested in finding out if the food is good. Most of the plates went back to kitchen half finished and the feedback regarding the food was from all that is was not so good and we should go somewhere else next time. Speaking to the people there, I was told that they have been there for 20 years. I guess that is only possible because no alternatives are available in the area and so bad restaurants stay there.

Very decent Greek restaurant with friendly Service. One of the big advantages is the super quick Service.

Nipped here on a whim with friends and was pleasantly surprised. There's a large choice of food & drink and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

Greek food at it's best! Arrived a busy Saturday evening without a reservation and after a few minutes was seated. Restaurant was buzzing, every table was full and across a wide range of ages. Food to suit all. Thinking because so busy would have to wait an age only find super fast service. Excellent highly recommend.

We booked a table on New Year's Eve for a table of 9 and despite being almost booked out the 'boss man' squeezed us in. As always the service and the food was great and despite being told we could only have the table for 2 hours we didn't feel as if we were being rushed. I live in England and 'Greco's' is my first port of call when I'm visiting Avenwedde.
