Contribuiți la feedbackCongratulations to this storied NC barbecue operation for its founder 's, C. Warner Stamey, induction into the first class of the North Carolina Bar B Que Hall Of Fame in early March. Also in the first group was Pete Jones of Skylight Inn, his grandson Sam Jones now operating both Skylight Inn and Sam Jones BBQ in Winterville, Wayne Honey Monk of Lexington BBQ, Charles Hursey of Hursey 's BBQ in the Burlington area, Kent Bridges of Alston Bridge 's BBQ in Shelby, and Steve and Gerri Grady of Grady 's BBQ near Goldsboro! If you get a chance to research these folks and their businesses you will learn much of what went into making both NC BBQ both Eastern and Lexington styles the jewel it is! Congratulation to them all!
My family and I used to love Stamey's. We don't get to Greensboro much anymore but we ate here tonight and it was the biggest disappointed. The bbq was very fatty and it didn't even taste the same. The fries tasted like grease, it was awful. We ended up giving it to our dogs. $48 for food we ended up giving to our dogs! Sorry Stamey's we won't be back.
We are Stamey's BBQ fans living in Texas! My husband is a Greensboro native, and it's his first stop every trip home. But with a job and three kids, he doesn't get home as often as he'd like, so we order Stamey's sauce off the website and they ship it to us in Dallas so he can always get his taste of home! Although I'm partial to Texas bbq, even I'll admit that Stamey's is good. But even more than that, I've developed a love and loyalty for it too, just because it's a company of good people who will go to great lengths to serve their customers both near and far! BTW, my husband flies in Friday to spend his moms birthday weekend with his family, so I'm sure you'll get a big group order from them!
Probably more like 3.5 stars for me, if we can ever convince Yelp to allow half-star ratings. I took a spot at the counter and was surprised at how long it took for one of the waitresses who kept passing me to ask what I'd like to drink. After all, the restaurant was far from busy. The waitress that finally chose to cover the counter also seemed to have trouble figuring out my order, though it was far from complicated: a chopped pork sandwich with barbecue slaw, and a hot dog all the way including barbecue slaw. I had to explain the hot dog three times! After that experience, things got better. The food showed up quickly, and I was impressed by the amount of meat in the barbecue sandwich. The meat was a little drier than I like but a few splashes of sauce helped. The hot dog was simple yet delicious. And a nice glass of half-sweet tea matched up well with the food. The service grade took another hit when I went to the counter to pay, for the clerk there was as cold and unfriendly as a block of ice. What happened to making patrons feel welcome and appreciated? Instead, I think I was dealing with a zombie. The food was good enough to go back, so I'll try it again, but Stamey's could stand to improve the customer experience at this particular location.
My second time stopping in and this is definitely one of my new hotspots for lunch from the office. I've been getting the chopped bbq sandwich with fries and a milkshake chocolate and Oreo blended. Place has a classic feel to it as you can see the rich 95 years of business and history that Stamey's BBQ has had in Greensboro. Believe it or not, prior to his presidency, Donald Trump actually dined in at this very same Stamey's. Moreover, the list of high profile, presidential patrons goes back decades! Definitely give Stamey's a chance, quality food, affordable prices waitress so far have been amazing too.
