Friendly service. Food is tasteless, and poorly done. I had the carbonara, which was basically scrambled eggs and spaghetti. The white harsh overhead lights, and the dance play list doesn't add to the atmosphere.
Arkadius is a Polish restaurant hidden within Frankfurt's Westend. We arrived early, about 6pm, just as the cook was setting up the outdoor tables. We had to ask if the restaurant was open, and we were welcomed in right away. Obviously, I speak English, as did my five companions. The married couple who run Arkadius (wife cooks, husband manages the front of house) spoke little English, though much more than we speak German, but they were eager to overcome that obstacle. Our meals took a little long to prepare, but we assumed it was because we ordered before the kitchen had been made ready. The food was excellent. My pork scallopina was served with a creamy green peppercorn sauce that was quite delicious. Others in our group ordered turkey schnitzel cordon bleu, pork medallions, and the most fantastic homemade piroguies we have ever tasted. Our clean plates made the owners noticeably happy. Arkadius is located on a residential corner, so it is a bit of a hidden gem. We loved that it was removed from the bustle of the city.
