Something other than the pizza/paste variation I usually liked would not be bad either. A short search and 4 tram stations later I stand in front of the Vietnamese restaurant Mai Viên. From the outside, the place is somewhat inconspicuous and only after the very narrow entrance area (request definitely not barrier-free behind it, you will find a quite shaky place. It is brighter than you suspected and through the old wooden floor, and the initially hidden spaces the whole looks quite homely. It is not very late yet and therefore, at least in the front area, most tables are still free. I will be greeted with a nap after a short time, and to my question where I can sit, you will refer me to a small 2 table in the back between theke and wall. Unfortunately, I can't use the better place with my back to the wall because I'm afraid to stay stuck. So I'm sitting with my back in the guest room. About 1 meter in front of me wall, to the right of me wall and to the left of me the counter, which is also a kind of wall when I sit. Unfortunately, the other free tables prove to be reserved, which is confirmed shortly afterwards by a rapid increase in the number of guests. In the following I will be served by a gentleman (I suspect the boss and a lady. Both speak only (or not even the most necessary), which leads to confusion on both sides in some places. Nevertheless, the miracle of communication can unfold at least to such an extent that a card as well as a non-alcoholic wheat (€0.5l 3.50) is brought to the table and I can also make my courageous decision regarding the cutlery (I take sticks kund. The card comprises in total more than 100 positions that, apart from the Vietnamese names at first glance, could also be found in other Asian locals. At the second glance, however, there are some combinations that I have not seen at the usual buffet asiates. An accurate study of the map and multiple testing could be rewarding. Finally, my appetizer will be a more common dish, Tôm Lăn Bôt – shrimps in the dough shell (5.50 € or the number 11 as the service confirmed. As a main dish it should be Vit cà ry – duck breast with curry sauce (14,50 €). When the food sticks were brought to me, the already covered cutlery was allowed to be European-friendly. The baked shrimp (4 pieces were served with a sweet-saure sauce, homemade according to the map. Even at the first attempt, I cursed my Stäbchen ambition, but then beat me bravely and successfully, almost without claping. The shrimps were well made, although not gourmet quality (as at the price but optimally cooked for this. Crispy dough coat and slightly glassy, juicy shrimps. The sauce was also really good, the attribute homemade I like to believe and must pay respect to the home maker. That's how I wish this sauce everywhere. Nicely fruity, with quite, very light sharpness. Until then the main food came to the table it took a little longer, the place was now up to the last place ..., no really is not true, I would still have a place for myself.... The duck breast in Currysoße was already very nice. The meat was no longer pink, but you still looked at it (and you could also taste it that it was nicely tender and by no means deadly. The coconut-based sauce had a round spicy and slightly sharp taste which I enjoyed very well. I also found the attached vegetables (aubergines, beans, zucchini, potatoes and sweet potatoes very suitable. Everyone had the right degree, none was too lazy or too hard. Together with the nice sticky rice (yes so it is better to eat with sticks I would order this again at any time. When I was clean, I meant to have heard something like “tasteful?” but I was not sure. But yes, it tasted. When paying, there was a proper document and a quiet adoption at the table. Rating: Ambiente: Schwierig! On the one hand, this is actually quite pleasant place with the beautiful wooden floor and the slightly angled construction. On the other hand, there is the really grayish niche next to the counter in which I was squeezed. 3.5 star service: One does not speak much here, at least not with a blue bear. Even though some questions about the taste have been scrubbed, there is certainly potential to improve 3 stars food: a really good kitchen performance. I wouldn't have expected that. 4 star cleanliness: The guestroom itself was very well maintained and clean, but in my little sin stretch there was still the one or the other sticks hidden. 4 star price-performance ratio: The food was delicious, I was tired and the whole thing without taking a small loan, so quite good for Frankfurter relations. Four stars. Conclusion: If I can sit elsewhere in the future, I would like to come back. I recommend having a shadow-loving, not too large room plant.
