Contribuiți la feedbackRegretfully to our whole party, we went there for my birthday. Because they do not take reservations, we had to wait about 1 1/2 hours to be seated. The prickly pear margaritas, while OK, were over priced. The sound decibel level was off the charts and the crowded waiting area around the bar was very uncomfortable. Once we were seated the service was rushed and poor. I actually had to leave the restaurant briefly because the noise was giving me a migraine. Canyon will never be recommended by me or the party that was with me. Thanks for putting a sour note on a birthday!!!!
Had a horrible experience. Terrible service. Entire meal was hurried, we were asked to order our entrees along with our appetizers. When a restaurant does not accept reservations and you are forced to wait you should not be rushed. We were sat next to the kitchen in an uncomfortable booth and the table was so crooked our drinks poured out of the martini glasses. (Which were their “famous prickly pear marguerites” served in martini glasses?? . I have never chosen to write a review on a restaurant let alone a negative review, but the night was extremely special and was unfortunately ruined. Will never return and plan on spreading the word.
I have to give this place 5 stars. It was great. I arrived early and sat at the bar while I waited for a friend to arrive. It was better for us to order a bottle than to go by the glass and by the end of the night we had two bottles. It was high quality and easy to drink with the great food we had. At the bar we had complimentary appetizers that were to die for. I was happy to drink wine and go for more appetizers. We realized that this place fills up so fast that if you don't get there early, you will not find a place to sit and dine. Should that happen, it's really worth the wait. I would suggest sitting at the bar and mingling with the eclectic crowd. The service was out of this world. I have heard people say they did not get good service but I cannot say that. The manager waited on us and he was so attentive it was a treat just for service alone. The tables are nestled into a fairly small but cozy space and the tables are mostly against the windows. We had a nice little table that reminded me of a far away place...wherever I wanted it to be. It was still early so it was light out and we watched people walking by, drank wine and tasted appetizers while we decided what to enjoy for our entrees. I was amazed at how delicious the food was and it was prepared with panache! The presentation was fabulous. Simple, oversized, while platters and plates with gentle curves that echoed contemporary while not slapping you in the face with hard edged modernism. The booths are delicately draped with sheer fabric in varied colors. It was so cozy I was in heaven. I went there with a girlfriend of mine and can only imagine what a great date place this would be. I told her that I thought it would be great for a long dinner on a second or third date when you know you want to spend some time with someone to talk and dine. Oh, it was great. The evening was topped off by an unbelievable dessert and I can't wait until I go back again. Now, it is a bit pricey but for all that you get it is not that bad at all. We were two, we had two bottles of wine, yes I know, appetizers and entrees. I had filet mignon which was like a dream and she had fish. We were ooing and mmming during the meal so much it almost sounded sensual! Ha. We giggled and laughed as we realized how delicious it all was. Unbelievable and so well worth it. I sure hope I can go there with a date because it is perfect for that as I said, but there were also larger parties who were having a good time. Well worth it and I think if you don't mind spending a bit for a special dinner, go for it! I know I'll be back!!! Oh, and next time, I don't think my friend's guy will let us go without him.
The filet is about the best I 've had. All side items blend well and are the typical filet items (seasoned mashed potatoes, asparagus, aged cheese on top). The beer list needs to be improved, at least the last time I was there in 2006. Absolutely must: order the bread pudding and order it before dinner...otherwise it might not be there at the end. Appears to be a very well soaked bread pudding with white chocolate chunks and a mixed berry/cream sauce on top DO NOT MISS THIS. Downfalls to this restaurant is that they do not take reservations and begin to get very busy right around happy hour, and it 's a small place and the bar is a hot spot for what appears to be the 30 40 something singles crowd; so can get pretty busy. I recommend an early dinner (5:30pm) and beat the noisy crowd well worth it.
Very good, uniquely prepared southwestern food. They also have the finest margarita around, for which they have a large local following of fans.
