Contribuiți la feedbackI recently dined at this restaurant with a group of 8 friends and we all had a great meal. My friends raved about the delicious steak and fantastic ribs. I personally tried the seafood platter and it was wonderful, with a variety of seafood including salmon, cod, squid, scallops, shrimp, and more. Despite the ambiance, the staff were excellent and the portions were generous. I highly recommend giving this place a try!
We ended up eating at this restaurant at an odd time in the late afternoon due to arriving on the ferry and trying to find our accommodation. We were the only patrons in the restaurant, which felt a bit empty. This restaurant is one of the few options on Fogo Island, and is often recommended by locals. We had expected a bit more from the experience. I ordered a club sandwich which was decent, my beer was cold, and the server was friendly. I understand the challenges of running a restaurant on Fogo Island with a short tourist season and limited resources, but I believe with a few improvements, this restaurant could really thrive.
As with so many other places in Newfie, early season means limited options. We needed lunch and we were not able to find too may choices, so we jumped when we saw Beaches was open. We had an order of chicken tenders and a grilled cheese and chips. My sandwich was good and the chips were actually terrific--and a big serving. Alas, the chicken was sort of what any little kid would get from a packet of frozen nuggets. (i recognize he ordered something that clearly had to be shipped in.) But, we needed food, they were open, and i learned that my habit of sticking with grilled cheese is still a winning strategy in remote locations.
This "restaurant" is in the main town of Fogo. As stated in other reviews, the decor is sadly lacking. A thin curtain separates the eating area from the pub. However, the food we had was good and the server friendly and cheerful.
There are limited dining options on Fogo Island, but we decided to give Beaches a try since some places aren't open every day. The food was delicious enough that we ended up going back for a second meal. The dining area is separated from the bar by partitions in an open room where karaoke is also held. The food was tasty, hot, and made fresh. It seemed to be a popular spot among both tourists and locals, as we had difficulty securing a table on our first visit but managed to squeeze in. The prices were reasonable.
