Contribuiți la feedbackI visited the Schwarzer Bär Restaurant together with business friends again, in order to enjoy typical Franconian dishes. The service was very amiable and diligent. As starter I preferred 6 delicious Blaue Zipfel, a Nuremberg style sausage (poached in onion-vinegar broth and served with sour dough bread). As main dish I had a perfect rare grilled striploin of beef, served with herb butter, horseradish, onions, baked potato with sour cream and a mixed salad. Accompanied by cold Franconian style Kellerbier (means medium-bodied amber beer) was it a very good dinner in a rustic well-being atmosphere. For digestion was an excellent “Schlehengeist” (sloe brandy) from Hertlein Streitberger together with a double espresso a recommendable completion of the dinner. The quality of the served Franconian dishes are still very good and always worth to come again.
I was there several times with business guests. Each time it took very long until we received our meals. As I am not so keen on heavy franconian meat meals I tried salad or asparagus. I can not recommend this restaurant besides you want to stay long time and enjoy talking till very late evening.
The traditional restaurant Schwarzer Bär (Black Bear) is an ideal place to enjoy typical Franconian specialties in rustic and elegant atmosphere. The service is very obliging and attentive. Particularly recommendable are the Nuremberg style sausage (grilled or poached in onion-vinegar broth), Schäufele (roasted shoulder of pork), Sauerbraten (stewed sour beef) and roasted Franconian duck together with a wide selection of fish and game dishes. I started with Nuremberg sausages (2 grilled and 2 poached ones) served with Sauerkraut and sour dough bread. As main dish I had a big Schäufele with potato dumpling, delicate brown sauce and mixed salad. What a great pleasure without the pain. The dishes are perfectly paired by cold Franconian style bottom-fermented Kellerbier (means beer nether clarified nor pasteurized). An excellent “Schlehengeist” (sloe brandy) as digestif is a recommendable night cap after this kind of opulent dinner. The quality of the served Franconian food is very good and worth to visit this restaurant with regionalism flair again.
Recomended we had traditional german food schwein und rostie kartoffel and good local beer and wine 4 of 5 scoores..
I had a Frankonian wedding soup as a starter ok but nothing special. The duck as a main course was good. The dessert chocolate mousse tasted uninteresting.
