Maxbauer's Meat Market

This is an incredible place. Their meat is superb along with the seafood and pork. They have prepared i teams as well. Very clean. BE PREPARED TO PAY BIG CITY PRICES FOR THE QUALITY. they also have a large selection of jerky.

I live in the U.P. but my wife and I were recently visiting for our son's football game near by. I've had a hard time finding a butcher shop with higher end meats since moving north so I took the opportunity while visiting to look for one and I'm very pleased that I did. This place is a gem. They have an excellent selection of quality meats and specialty items. I was like a kid in a candy store. So far, out of the items I purchased, I've eaten the Korean jerky which was great, the beef jerky dip which was awesome, and I just ate a ribeye. I can honestly say that the ribeye was the best steak I've eaten in years. I suspect the pork chops and house made bacon will be good as well. While I was there, I was either helped, or offered help by several different people including a guy who appeared to be the owner or manager. The customer service was as good as the steaks that just pleased my entire family. I'll be back the first chance I get and I'll order online if and when I can't wait that long.

Outstanding standing rib roast. The dinner received rave reviews. When I called to ask about the number of ribs I would need, I got excellent advice. What a great find. We will be back!

Very nice meat selection in Traverse City. They also have a nice selection of pantry items and produce (get your Chicago Giardiniera). We tried the cherry sausages which were good, the dry aged NY Strips which were great, the cherry chicken salad was amazing (better than Hansens or Cherry Republic) and bacon also amazing. The dry aged steaks had no age statement and maybe could've been a little older funkier and dryer (they were vacuum sealed which might have affected this). All in all, likely the best butcher in the area.
