I have had the pleasure of dining twice at Le Champetre, the first time was last year together with my wife, and most recently by myself when I was returning to Ontario from a visit to La Sarre. The dining ambiance is a treat. Most of the tables have a great view of Lac Duparquet. The owners have obviously given a lot of thought to the interior design of the restaurant and then taken great care with the workmanship and furnishings. The result is a feeling of cozy comfort but not crowded seating. The menu features and lists the local area suppliers, and is not overly extensive. eight appetizers; three salads; soup of the day and French onion soup; four pasta dishes; six entrees. supplemented with a few evening specials. But in our experience, each dish is well prepared and presented. pleasing to the palate and to the eye. Last year my wife and I dined on “Brochette de filet mignon” and “Poitrine de poulet a la Thaie”, both served on rice and accompanied with a small salad. choice of Chef's salad or Caesar's salad. Both very good. On my most recent visit I really enjoyed the trout almondine. baked just right, moist and flaky on the inside, an ample portion of baked almonds, accompanying rice subtly flavored, and julienne vegetables done “al dente”. One small nit. the accompanying bread/bun came still wrapped in cellophane and obviously just out of the fridge. Should have been either heated in the oven together with the trout or at the very least nuked in a microwave before serving.Other observations. The wine list is relatively short but well chosen from 5 countries. 6 reds, 4 whites, 1 rose, 2 champagnes. plus a number of unlisted wines. “ask the hostess”. The list of beers, aperitifs, spirits and cocktails is considerably more extensive. The menu is only available in French, but most of it easily understandable to English-only speakers. The hostess was very helpful with translation in the couple of instances where I needed help. Outside patio seating is also available for sunny days. Again, a great view of Lac Duparquet. Service in both visits very was welcoming, friendly and efficient. All-in-all a very good restaurant and a welcome addition to the region.
I had never been to Jack in the Box before, but I decided to give it a try.
The service at this restaurant is incredibly slow. Despite being a regular customer, I am always surprised by how long it takes for them to serve the food. However, I do enjoy their $1.19 tacos.
This Jack-in-the-Box location was the worst I have ever visited. The employees seemed to move at a sloth-like pace, as if they were half human, half sloth.
