Barred Rock Cafe - Dexter

I'm re-reviewing favorite places during the pandemic, and am very unhappy to say that the Barred Rock doesn't enforce mask use. Several people walked right in not wearing masks, and nobody said anything. The staff were masked. They don't state masks are required either. We will not be returning to what used to be one of our favorite breakfast places.

I absolutely love eating here. Food is always delicious my favorite being the chorizo hash, which I hope comes back soon! I don’t live so close otherwise I’d buy from here daily. Four stars because little things could improve. Saturday it was my burnt toast on my to go order. Too dark at least for me. And last time I asked for my eggs over hard (as in no runny yolk) and my eggs were very runny.

5 stars for the lady and her generosity in giving me a free cup of coffee after a good day of hard work

Showed up at 2pm for a late lunch (they close at 3). Despite being the only customers, it took 10 minutes to have a drink order taken and 25 minutes before they realized they didn't take our food order. Food was a mess. Lemon chicken rice soup was the consistency of oatmeal. I had a Cobb salad that was served with no chopped egg and no mention of why. When I asked where it was they came back to tell me they had no more and it would be 10 minutes for the egg as they were boiling them for the next day. No thanks. Why bother staying open until 3? Close at 1 if you can't handle customers coming in late. Waste of time and money. We won't be back. Servers are nice enough. But it was like no one had a clue.

The food was absolutely phenomenal. Their burgers are juicy, fries are crispy, and bacon is amazing. Highly suggest coming here!
