Bistro Barbes - Denver

The chef seems only a bit irritated that I refer to him as "chef" every time he visits our table. “You can just call me Jon,” he says. Thank you, Chef Jon. As a playful punishment, he serves me a glass of chartreuse. If you talk like a cook, you might as well drink like one.

I had a fantastic experience! It was a bit different from what we expected, but truly amazing how smoothly everything flowed. Everything came together nicely, although a little more energy in the room would have enhanced the atmosphere. Given that it was January, that wasn't very surprising. Definitely consider trying this wonderful dinner experience and enjoying the impressive one-man band!

We had an excellent experience at Bistro Barbes. The proprietor is so knowledgeable and welcoming. We are vegetarian so we called ahead, since the menu is a pre-set four course meal. He cooked us a beautiful vegetarian main course. We had the 4 course wine accompaniment as well. The wines were excellent, and $40 for 4 different wines was a good value. Overall a great dining experience.
