We said what do you mean it's closing? It closes at 2:00 it's 1:40? They then told us it was closing in 3 minutes and we could not eat. We went around the block to takumi hibachi sushi and bar. We were seated, treated kindly, treated like they wanted our business. Interestingly enough we saw two other families that had been kicked out of geisha sushi as well. We conversed exchanged their stories all agreed that they did not like the service there and we're eating at takumi's for just that reason. Anytime we're in denham springs we have been going to geisha sushi. No more, they obviously do not want our business.
Great atmosphere, great friendly sevice, clean. Absolutely deliciousfood. My son, Tyler and I ordered the Sake sampler, Calamari, Geisha Roll, Mango Tango Roll and Fried Icecream. The manager actually served us!
Honestly, I was expecting sushi D.S. to equal mediocre on all accounts, but I was so pleasantly surprised to be wrong. The service, sushi, and service (not a typo) were outstanding. Jonathan was friendly, funny, and generous with his recommendations which were mind blowing! The kids Bento Box was the only way to break a kid into sushi and the tempura batter is on point! The sushi was fresh, and the flavors were distinctive and clean. They have a great variety of japanese cooked dishes for anyone not interested in raw. Will be back anytime we can!
I've eaten here a total of 4 times after moving to Denham Springs. Ironically, after a terrible experience at a nearby restaurant, Geisha was suggested to me by an employee at another shop. The staff is really nice and everything is clean and lovely. The prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes. I want more than anything to give a really stellar review on just those qualities. The food however is not good. Now, I'll say I order raw fish and nigiri more often than cooked dishes (no remarks on those) and the toppings range from palatable to weirdly mushy and smelling of too much vinegar or lime especially their whiter fleshed fish but even their salmon and tuna at times. But the thing I really cannot stand is their sushi rice and that's the saddest part to me. Maybe the rice is better in their rolls which are spicy-mayo heavy or covered in sauces, fried, what have you. But on regular rolls and with their nigiri or (shudder) chirashi it's 1. Hard (either undercooked or left out and uncovered too long and dried out) and 2. Under or overflavored (vinegar is either too little or too much). They use some kind of chicken broth for their clwar soup which is just heavy and a little sad but a thousand times better than their miso soup with its inconsistent hunks of all day tofu and seaweed.I love Japanese food and I don't ask for much from it but I've tried eating at Geisha twice for lunch and twice for dinner two days on the weekend and two days during the week and given these main issues are included in every dish I order (fish, rice, soup) there's no way I can keep doing it. I have to make the trip back to Baton Rouge or all the way to Kenner and I wish it wasn't so. Still, 4 stars because it's clean, nice staff, great pricing.
Excellent sushi special, all this plus soup and salad for only $10. I had the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls with the meal. Pan fried pork gyoza and a nicely fried shrimp tempura. Soup was on point as well as the salad.
