Bistro Associates - Decatur

Food is below average, prices are high. We ordered a mezze as starter, and it was poorly served. We were astonished with the low quality price ratio. Just a loss of time.

Writing this review makes me very sad, because this was one of our favorite restaurants whenever we came to Atlanta which is where our son was living. We discovered it by accident on a drive home from Texas and it was fabulous see my earlier review). Went at least one more time for dinner and once for brunch, all delicious. They had a dish of scallops in a pesto cream sauce no longer on the menu) that was so delicious I wanted to lick my plate. Last weekend we were in town to help our son move back to Maryland so we were looking forward to one more dinner. We both got the specials which were mahi mahi and short ribs. The mahi mahi was served on a bed of zucchini and the sauce was extremely salty. My husband's short ribs $42) were very fatty and unappetizing and the side of greens kale, I think) served with it were so salty they were inedible. In retrospect, we should have sent both dinners back to the kitchen but we don't like doing that so made the best of it. Got desserts which were okay. That night my husband and I were both unwell with the same symptoms. A sad goodbye for us to a once wonderful restaurant.

Risotto not cooked correctly (dry and stuck together in a clump) with undercooked and unseasoned, cold asparagus sprinkled on top. Out of the 3 scallops I rcvd, only ONE was cooked correctly. One was very undercooked with zero grill marks on either side. Scallops had no salt and no taste at all. Mushroom soup was really tasty, but unfortunately overloaded with salt. We ate maybe an 1/8th of our food and didn't ask for a to go box. Nobody asked how our meal was or why we didn't eat any of it. Waiter was a miss...never asked if we wanted a second drink and never once filled up our water. I had to take my water bottle out of my purse. He didn't know what a Bordelaise sauce was and didn't attempt to find out when questioned. 20% gratuity added automatically for party of 4...why? Sorry, but waiter didn't earn his 20%. Bathrooms were in need of paint/wallpaper repair...not what I'd expect from a place that appears to be upscale, considering their prices.

My experiences here have been uneven from the time they first opened, but everyone seems to like the food, so I give it another try from time to time. No more. They shouldn't put eggs Benedict on the menu if they can't poach an egg. Mine arrived so underdone that the whites ran clear. When I sent them back, they came back to me with hard-cooked yokes in the clear slime of left on the plate from before. Really disappointed.

Our server Christina was amazing! The food was really great as well! We came for a Valentines Day date and the whole experience was good. We were greeted with a smile by the hostes and seated shortly after we arrived.
