We have been eager to try Pizzette because it is owned by Nancy Silverton, whose pizza at Mozza is legendary. Pizzette lived up to our very high expectations! Each Pizzette is a 7 inch pizza, with 4 slices, intended to serve one person. The dough is definitely the star! Toppings are high quality, delicious and generous portions. Order one Pizzette per person. We tried three Pizzettes: FUNGHI MISTI PIZZETTE $15) which is topped with mixed mushrooms, fontina, taleggio, and thyme Fabulous! We had olives added to the MARGHERITA PIZZETTE $14) which comes topped with mozzarella, tomato, basil, and extra virgin olive oil Delicious! PEPPERONI PIZZETTE $16) tomato, mozzarella Fresno chiles Excellent! We also ordered the GARLIC KNOTS for the table, off the appetizer menu. At only $6, it was a good deal. Topped with garlic confit and Parmigiano Reggiano. Unfortunately, the sauce it came with was room temperature next time will definitely ask for the sauce to be warmed. Citizen Public Market has nice, dog friendly , outdoor patios for dining.
If you love Mozza, you'll like Pizzette which is also owned by Nancy Silverton. The pies are a bit smaller so you'll certainly need one per person. I had the pepperoni which was EXCELLENT. Generous amount of meat, crisp, chewy crust YUM! The mushroom was also tasty and made with high quality, cheese, sauce, and dough. Grab a pie and eat it at one of the outdoor patios in Citizen Public Market along with some good brew.
Boyfriend and I wandered into the Citizen's Public Market on a happening Thursday evening and decided to splurge on pizza after trying (I emphasize TRYING) to go no-carb for weeks. Oh man!! Pizzette HIT DIFFERENT!! We sat down at the bar-style seating and looked at the menu. I always get a margherita pizza anywhere we go but for some reason was drawn to the Mortadella pizza...a very interesting combo of whipped ricotta, mortadella, pistachios and lemon oil. Boyfriend ordered the Benno. (I think pineapple on pizza is still an abomination but whatever). I found it interesting that the majority of the toppings were placed on my pizza AFTER it came out of the oven. But the flavors were delicious and worked very well together. Boyfriend was also happy with his choice and relished his pineapple, which didn't overwhelm the pie. And can we talk about their crust?? As a dyed-in-the-wool New York/New Jersey pizza snob, my main complaint about the majority of pizzas out here is that the crust is too doughy or tasteless. Not the case here. The crust was so light and flavorful, and had that crackery crunch that I absolutely love!!! Many reviews have complained about the personal size of the pizzas, but for us they were perfect. Just enough food without feeling stuffed. There's also a nice wine list and a handful of craft beer selections. The atmosphere in the hall was fun and felt like the weekend. There was a live band and karaoke going on on the back patio so it can get a bit loud, but it's a fun place to eat, drink and people watch.
A kids size pizza for $12 and they skimp on the cheese. Do yourself a favor and head across the street to Ugos for pizza that’s actually authentic neopolitan and actually proper size.
