Lillian’s Barbecue - Crowley

I used to give this place between 4-5 stars. But they changed the layout. Food was still good. But, they took away the food serving line and you can’t SEE the meat! Or the sides!!! I like to go in and see what looks good. It’s like a fast food joint that has it all made in the back as they come out with it. It totally ruined my experience. Seeing and choosing what looks good is part of eating BBQ to me. Most BBQ places have the meats where you can see them. I’m not impressed with the change. Thankfully one of their other locations I frequent isn’t this way. And they serve it to you all on paper trays! I’m done with the wasteful food service paper and plastic products. If I’m in to eat a sit down meal that requires cutting and some sides that are dense, I want something better than cheap paper and plastic. It totally lowers the experience. Cousins missed the mark here with the change.

My wife and I have been eating at Cousins in Crowley sense they opened over 20 years ago . I was a cozy with building with dividers for privacy. The leanest and best BBQ, ribs, chicken all meats. It use to cost about 32 bucks plus Gratuity for a couple to eat. Now it has been completely remodeled. No longer can you look at buffet behind glass and order what looks good and get it through the line. You pick up your food at a counter. Like McDonald's. One large room no matter where you sit somebody is staring at you while you eat. Even people driving by out front. The ribs was a cut of fat , if you wanted chicken you had to buy half a chicken on a plate. A couple can eat for a little over 50 dollars plus a gratuity at the register. They have only been reopened for 2 days maybe they had a bad order of meats. The only good thing I can say is the big baked potato was still good. My wife and I will not ever be eating their again If you like ribs you might as well go get a Mc.rib from McDonalds for a couple bucks because that is wat it taste like. No more plates or silverware everything is served in little cardboard cartons with plastic sporks. This is as fast as fast food gets. We ate the potato but took the rest home for the dogs, they loved it, first 50 dollar fine dinning meal the dogs ever had. This all makes us very sad we use to love that place.

The food was even better than I imagined. We had ribs, bbq pork and beef. Everything was mouth watering good. We will definitely be back

Great food, real Texas BBQ. The food does not need any sauce it is so good. Friendly owners. worth the trip and we are from Huntsville, TX.
