Today, they were not only all out, they didn't know when they would be getting any more sausage. No sausage at an Italian deli? I guess that's because they're A S Fine Foods. I liked them better when they were A S Pork store.
Best Italian market in Westchester! I have lived in Croton for 15 years. Have been a regular at A&S since moving to the area. First in their former location and now in their really nice new spot in town. Its all about the food and the variety. Everything they serve is top quality. The prepared foods are amazing. They stock only the best Italian brands. My family and I have tried everything from the eggplant to the steaks to the olives to the fresh pastas and everything we try becomes our new favorite . People have talked about the fresh mozzarella and that alone would be worth the trip to check them out. We put together at least 2 meals a week from A&S and are now totally spoiled. If we get stuck and have to pickup an item from a grocery store or another Italian deli in town its always a big letdown. To have a place this great right in town is really awesome.
I just called them to ask if they are open for breakfast and the person on the phone said "ok. Bye "and hung up. I 'm not sure what their hours of operation are either because the guy just hung up! RUDE!
Stay away! New deli in town, so I thought I would give it shot. Ordered a prosciutto and mortadella sandwich. I went home to eat the sandwich, and I found that it had bits of plastic in it!!!!!!!! The prosciutto had way too much fat on it, and the rind from the mortadella was left on the meat. Took a few bites, and threw it in the trash. Really disappointed. I went back, and showed the owner the plastic, he said, Oh, that 's just the plastic staple from prosciutto...sometimes we miss taking it out. Um, seems like a big miss to me. I proceeded to tell him that the prosciutto had too much fat on it, and he was very confrontational about it to the point of being rude. At one point he said, you can 't expect everything be perfect No, I can 't, but I can expect some customer service. I did get a refund back, but I had to demand it. There are plenty of other options in town to get a better sandwich and friendlier service. I would recommend going up the road for your Italian grocery needs.
The best Italian combo they can get. this is a classic Italian deli with a large selection of deli food, hot items and excellent sandwiches. the owners and people who work there are very friendly. one of my places in the city to get homemade foods and Italian classics, glad that we have such a great place close to home.
