Willie Mae's Scotch House - New Orleans

The greatest American fried chicken serves ever. No wonder this place is an institution. Part of me believes it won't be here for much longer so take advantage of it! The side dishes were excellent too the white bean red beans sides definitely stick to your ribs.

This place was awesome when I went years ago. Does anyone know why the listing shows as “temporarily closed” and when/if they’ll be opening back up?

First ever trip with my now husband was to New Orleans and we had to come here! Every time we come its right before they open so I don't have to wait in a too long of a line (Trust me there will be one everyday) The food is so good that we even dream about it years later. When we always come back to New Orleans we always eat here the first or second day. It is a must and a history of an amazing culture here. Make the line, it will not disappoint!

Best fried chicken I’ve ever had!! There was a long wait and they don’t do reservations, but it was 100% worth it. The seemingly humble side dishes were packed with flavor!! Highly recommend the green beans. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Hope they reopen soon.

We visited in September 2018. Best fried chicken I've had and the portions are quite generous. Luckily we were seated right away, but after a line started forming behind us. The fried okra and green beans were one of my favourites. If you're staying around the French Quarter, I would definitely recommend taking a taxi/uber as it is a bit farther from the main square.
