Civic Hall - County Durham

Me and my partner called here as a last minute plan, the whole place has had a makeover giving it a fresh clean feel. We were greeted by a staff member as soon as we entered and once our booking was confirmed we were shown to our table. The staff were very friendly and polite and drinks were ordered and brought over really quickly! The food was absolutely beautiful both the starter and the main. We will definitely be visiting more often. I can’t recommend it enough

We were not made to feel welcome , service not up to their standard, been here loads of times but portions are not up to the same standard. , even though you were getting it discount you expect the same portions

Regular visitor to civic for food over the years and always found food to be good and value for money. Visited here mid week told new manager in charge. This was obvious as meals were a joke. Got prawn salad. Salad consisted of some chopped lettuce and nothing else. This does not constitute a salad in my mind. Portion of prawns particularly small for a main meal acceptable for a starter bout not a main. Other meal ordered braised steak slice of steak overcooked round the edges. Quantity of food compared to previous visits a lot less. If this is the standard under the new management then afraid business will suffer. Won't be back unfortunately and sorry for this as always liked the civic for food

Sorry I have no photos of food, food does looks good but taste there’s non at all, this hall/restaurant is awful, my son could do better he’s 18, ordered fajitas only two pieces of chicken so I complained, had to wait 5mins later a full bowl of chicken well that makes me wonder why only 5 mins. Will not be going back.

We went with some of our association friends for a 3 course evening meal, we were not disappointed, there were a few choices of each course. Everyone was pleased with their meals. The general consensus of opinion from all members is that we would like to return for further functions in the future. There is a good selection of draught beers and lagers. There is ample parking in the adjacent car park, the staff were very helpful and the meals we all presented quickly between courses. Will definitely visit again.
