Wicker Park is my favorite neighborhood in Chicago and Wormhole is my favorite coffeehouse in my fave neighborhood. Their coffee and espresso drinks are extraordinary. Yes, better than even Starbucks for all you Starbie fans. They use Metropolis Coffee as their bean provider a local Chicago roaster. They serve vegan treats from Fritz Pastry. One thing they do better than Fritz Pastry is they label their desserts as vegan (Fritz does not). No more stealth vegan bakery items, they're loud and proud! They recycle and now also compost (put cups, paper coffee grounds in the bus bins not the trash). Their to go containers are made from compostable, non petroleum plastics. Most months they have guest coffee roasters (ask). There are comfortable couches or if you prefer, tables with plenty of outlets for your laptop. In the summer they have tables outside. Wormhole is better in atmosphere, coffee quality and vegan treats than Filter coffeehouse down the block. Wormhole's closest contender, in my opinion, is Metropolis Coffeehouse in Rogers Park.
Wormhole has excellent coffee and great vegan desserts. Vegan muffins and even vegan cream -filled donuts. The decor is funky and cute. They even have a real DoLorean car in window with a flux capacitor (Back to the Future style).
Great place of study. Food options seem to be limited. Great ambience. Coffee seemed wonderful.
The best coffee I ever had. So glad we stopped here for our morning coffee! Honey Bear 5/5 Smaug 5/5 never had anything like that! Such a nostalgic institution!...
