Every dish we ordered exceeded our expectations, and there was not a single item that disappointed us.We were fortunate to be served by Paulette and Tina, both of whom provided exceptional service. More than a meal, an experience! Limited menu but everything is great. First helping is buffet, 2nd helpings are brought to you by servers who are always checking on you. Clean restrooms, plenty of parking, great gift shops and other historical buildings on site. Great stop just off I-64 or on the way to/from Monticello. $24.95 per adult plus drinks and desserts.

Michie Tavern is a one plate buffet style service of classic Southern food with additional servings brought to your table upon request by friendly and accommodating wait staff dressed in period attire.The atmosphere of stone fireplaces, creaking floors and, dim lighting give one a small glimpse back in history.The price is a bit on the expensive side for a buffet lunch but the experience makes up for it. Beverages and desserts are billed separately.As we approached there was a lengthy line that did move faster than expected. My best advice is to come hungry.Walk around the grounds and enjoy the gift stores, scenic gardens and many photos ops on the property. You may also walk around the Tavern to see the many rooms as a self guided tour.Having lunch here after visiting Monticello was the perfect experience.Parking: Large parking lot with no fee to park

The atmosphere is THE best part of this place, it looks like you are dinning in 1776 from the building down to the cups and plates.The Service is uncomparable to anywhere else, everyone has such a positive attitude and attentive to anything you need.Now for the food, the food is not bad, but it is a buffet, so the quality is not perfect, but it is edible. An adult plate is about 25 bucks, you're really paying for atmosphere and service.I think this is a place you should experience once. Also, the surrounding property has historical buildings and cool to check out.Kid-friendliness: Family restaurant for ALL ages, the high chairs are even colonial looking.Parking: Parking is plentiful, but it is on a slanted hill, no problem though. It would be easier for the driver to drop off less Mobile family/friends at the front and then park.

Best chicken I have ever had. I normally go to Knotts Berry Farm in California for chicken but never did I know that so good food can be found here. It's never in my life expected to eat some of the best food ever on a school trip. It was not only the food but the way the place looked made you feel like you were going threw the different areas of America.
