Hue Cocotte - Chamrousse

After wandering the narrow streets of Aix en Provence one night, I settled on Hue Cocotte and was very happy with my choice! Before seating me at an outside table, my waitress assured me that they had an English menu. She brought the daily French menu (written in chalk on a small board and then proceeded to explain in English the various dishes (getting help from a nearby table of customers for tricky words like lamb . So of course, I tried the lamb. The meat came on the bone, with vegetables and juices all served in a hot cocotte container. Along with bread and wine, the meal was perfect...

Delicious! All fresh ingredients, super fun staff, intimate environment and flavors that didn't disappoint. All the food was delicate and unique with fresh fish and vegetables that were eloquently put together. I would highly recommend a dinner here when I'm Aix.

Absolutely amazing meal from.start to finish. Each dish we tried was better then the next. If you are ever in Aix, you must get to Hue Cocotte! You will not be dissappointed!

This was a lovely restaurant for some home style food. We had a delicious egg and blue cheese appetizer followed by rabbit and shrimp main dishes. The food comes hot in a cococett (steel pot) and the flavors were great. As a visitor from America, it was a great dinner with some great tastes of France. The servers were happy to explain everything in English. It was very charming.

First of all, this place is not closed on Sundays, it opens at 7pm. Glad we took a chance. The menu is extremely interesting and service excellent. Prices are quite reasonable given the very high quality of the food, especially compared with the overpriced tourist traps in the area. Had the lamb shank which was perfectly prepared. All options looked great to be honest, would return if we had another day in Aix. Highly recommended.
