Sakanaya - Champaign

Fantastic miso soup, loved the gyoza, great sushi. The chicken katsu curry was overpriced, the chicken was overcooked, and there was too little curry (but the sauce itself was yummy. Wish it was served in a bowl all together so the flavors could soak. The rice was really good though. Definitely returning to try more, just would steer clear of the curry.

Pricey but the food is good. There'll be a long queue at dinner time (about 5:40~6PM).

I came from out of town to visit a friend and we heard this place was good, but I was disappointed with my experience. The location is extremely small and cramped, and we waited in a long line for a to go order. Also, I sadly found a hair wrapped in one of my sushi rolls. I will not be returning back to this restaurant and I will advise others the same.

Absolutely delicious food all around, best sushi on campus. The Playboy roll is my favorite. Busy, so be sure to see if there is a waitlist, only negative is that they mistook my group’s spot for another so we had to wait an extra 30 mins.

The sushi here is INCREDIBLE. I've eaten sushi across the country and this place is a winner. I wish I had found it sooner because it's one of those places where you want to try everything on the menu. It's fresh and unique and the ambiance is really cool.
