What a fantastic restaurant. Lovely decor, and a cosy atmosphere served by friendly and attentive staff. But let's get on to the food. We enjoyed the most delicious morsels served in a timely manner, on a not too busy Saturday night. The small menu will fulfill most people's needs, unless you have a massive appetite . The portions are small but every thing, on every plate, packs its own special punch. We couldn't fault any of the courses, and I especially loved all the little sauces served with each dish, that were so tasty. The highlights for me, were the scallops, the baked cabbage, and the Apple tart dessert. We will definitely try the degustation menu for our next special occasion.
Allium is tucked into one of those shop fronts that is forever changing but I hope Allium is here to stay. The food was amazing and the service was friendly and welcoming without being overbearing. I had the scallops to start with, followed by the duck and both were 10/10. Really lovely atmosphere and space to enjoy your dinner with friends, unlike other restaurants where they squeeze in too many tables. Thursday nights BYO is also a bonus! Hopefully word gets around about this amazing restaurant in the heart of New Farm. I will definitely be returning!
New Farm is blessed with some very nice restaurants, and the addition of relative newcomer Allium has made the choice even more difficult. Each time we've visited, we've found it difficult to choose our meals from a relatively short but very enticing menu. The pork belly is the best we've had anywhere for a very long time. The steak has been perfect every time. Fish, chicken, there's something for everyone.Allium is a great option for either a romantic interlude, or a meal with friends. Service is friendly and professional.Allium has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants.
The welcome was muted but sincere. No cutlery on the table ... came after we had ordered our entrées. Glass of bubbly to begin. Then we had the $55 special Sunday lunch ... two courses and a glass of wine. Most had an entrée and a main ... but then decided (as they could see what was being produced in the kitchen) to add a dessert. We all agreed that the service, the food and the décor were first rate.Highly recommended.Clive Hodges, St Lucia Queensland
