Contribuiți la feedbackWe had an excellent meal. Three of us split the pre-theatre menu (kale salad, fried chicken, crème brûlée), tarte alsacienne, beet and warm goat cheese toast, and moules frites a bonus michel's chocolate bar bites. Plenty of food and everything was delicious, although we probably wouldn't order the mussels again. They were fine but the other dishes outshone them. Will have to get the frites some other way! We specified the order in which we wanted the dishes presented and everything was orchestrated perfectly.
Glad to see Central has not lost that magic touch after all these years. Still terrific food and also first class service, unlike so many of these over publicized, over priced newcomers serving underwhelming dishes with unpolished waitstaff. The tried and true items are still there— the gougeres, the bacon tart, the gazpacho, the Caesar salad, the schnitzel, the moules frites, to name a few— but you can't go wrong almost anywhere on this time tested menu (including the desserts; the lemon “eggceptional” was just wow).
We had a great family dinner to celebrate a birthday. Service and food were very good. We enjoyed the croquettes, branzino, schnitzel and house fried chicken. All strong dishes—but nothing new or specials. Maybe adding a special for those of us who come more often. The cocktails and wines by the glass are excellent! The vibe downtown has changed on the weekends and we imagine may be impacting the vibe at the restaurant.
The food we ate was hard to distinguish as French (branzino from the menu) as it was missing not only key elements normally incorporated into French cuisine, but also lacked in flavor and was woefully standalone, except for a few steamed vegetables... it tasted very plain, where it could have been buttered or layered with a thin coat of fresh EVOO, and maybe at least some lemon garlic flavor too? Not a great showing on Mother's Day for this restaurant's kitchen team. Please improve ... at least for the next person to order this dish. I can make a much tastier fish-dish at home!
It was just my wife and I dining and the hostess guided us towards a table with a big family with small children. We discreetly asked to be seated to quiet in a quiet area and the manager immediately moved us to great table. Our server was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. Food delicious... Try the banana split. Recommend highly!
