Los Mariachis Mexican - Calgary

This restaurant in Calgary, formerly known as Los Mariachis, is now called Tacos Mexico and appears to have new ownership. They also have another location off Memorial. I have dined here 5 or 6 times now and have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. The lunch menu offers great value - I had 6 tacos (3 different flavors), chips, and fresh salsa for $14 plus tip! After struggling to stand up, I realized that 4 tacos would have been more than enough. Be sure to give it a try for some of the best authentic Mexican tacos in town.

I ordered from DoorDash for my birthday dinner. Despite the long delivery time, the food was just average. The chorizo appetizer was not recommended, as it seemed to be just pork sausage. My daughter found the chicken quesadilla to be unimpressive, while my son did not think much of the chimichangas. The Flautas received a four-star rating from my wife, and my enchilada verdes also earned a four. However, the presence of rocks in our refried beans led both my wife and I to not recommend this restaurant.

I absolutely loved the ambiance of this restaurant. They really captured the Mexican theme with soft Mexican music playing in the background and beautiful Mexican decorations throughout the space. The menu featured traditional Mexican cuisine. I had a coupon for a free appetizer combo with the purchase of two lunch entrees. Although the appetizer was a bit pricey, it was not worth the cost as it only included a few chips and four dipping sauces - refried beans, guacamole, salsa, and roasted vegetables. There were six of us dining and we each only got a couple of chips, so I wish they had provided more. Despite this, the food was delicious. I ordered the burrito, which was actually four smaller burritos topped with sour cream and lettuce, a unique twist that I enjoyed. Unfortunately, one person in our group ordered the cheese quesadillas and they were undercooked, with the cheese still shredded and not melted. When we asked the waiter to cook them more, he seemed taken aback. Other than that one issue, our dining experience was fantastic.

My family has been eating at this restaurant for over 4 years and up until tonight it has been amazing service and food. Tonight 's food and service was so horrendous that it completely changed our minds about this establishment and their staff. We ordered four dishes, two of the entrees had shredded chicken in them. While trying to eat the dishes that had chicken in them we came across several bones and cartilage, the bones ranged from nickel-sized to (sharp) toothpick sized. We called to speak with someone about the issue only to be dealt with in the rudest manner I 've ever heard in the restaurant industry. I was hung up on twice. The second call we discussed someone from the restaurant coming to pick up the food that has bones in it but I was told to call back in half an hour when it wasn 't as busy. I called back when it wasn 't as busy, right from the start of the call I was greeted with What? The rudeness escalated from there I was told they did not believe me that there were bones in our food,then I was told I had to drive down to the restaurant and bring them proof that there was bones in my food after that the employee accused me of trying to get free food because in his words people try to get free food from us nothing was done about the bones in the food, there wasn 't so much as an apology. We received poor food and even worst customer service, I truly believe the staff do not have any customer service training. It 's unbelievably rude to accuse a customer of lying or making up stories about the quality of their food, not to mention the dangers of choking on the bones. Luckily my small children did not ingest any of the chicken. Unfortunately, we are going to have to find a new favorite Mexican restaurant, hopefully one that knows how to treat their customers and deal with kitchen/food prep issues.

Mexican twice in 3 days each location quite different to each other. I have been to Los Mariachis about 4 times since moving to Calgary. All for dinner. Normally walk in for dinner and there may be 1 or 2 other tables but otherwise the restaurant is pretty quiet. Not sure if they may be busier for lunch. I also have no idea why they are so quiet. Now this isn 't the most amazing Mexican food you have ever eaten but they have big portions, fast service, and everything tastes pretty good. This time around we shared a starter of avocado with shrimp. Both halves of the avocado on the plate with skewer of grilled shrimp on top made a lovely change to cold shrimp. The avo was creamy and delightful with a tomato salsa. Really nice spin on the normal shrimp cocktail. I had the fish tacos, which come 6 to a plate. They are the smaller tacos and are made of corn. The snapper was plentiful and lightly grilled with the thinnest coating. Comes with cilantro and some cabbage. The taco filling is minimal but they had plenty of fish pieces per taco. Would have liked a little more flavour from the taco but that may just be because I went with the mild sauce of the 2 that came with it.Was full after 1/2 so took the rest home and had them for breakfast the next day fish was still moist and delicious. My aunt had the trio which was a burrito, cheese stuffed pepper, and chimichanga. All with their own sauces and refried beans. Beans were delicious. Sauce different enough from each other that tastes didn 't get lost. Pepper? Not really sure. She was halfway through and said she wasn 't sure she liked it. When I asked the pepper? her response was oh is that what it is? . So really not sure I can blame them for her not paying attention to what came in the trio :D Once again too full for dessert. Really enjoy coming her. Will definitely be back again. This visit was expediated by them having a Groupon on, but definitely not the only reason we came back.
