McGinty's - Cairns

I love this little bar. There are hardly no tourists, mostly locals. It isn't fancy or pretentious it just is. I feel like I could be in a big city somewhere tucked away in a bar.

McGinty's is a lovely authentic Irish pub in the middle of Cairns. The bar girl from Kildare was so lovely with surprising good local knowledge and chat, and she poured such a good pint of Guinness... a real gem of a place.

As an avid fan of Kilkenny, I have travelled the world drinking it. Have been in this pub many times over the years and the atmosphere is so typical of the home away from home Irish Pub. Great atmosphere and awesome pints of Kilkenny. The Irish lass behind the bar and the Irish band were made the visits so enjoyable.

I have too many words to rate this place! all in all this place is magnificent! staff are always lovely! Drinks ice cold and great Irish session and music! Will never fault every time we visit! Keep up the good work guys!

This is a little pub with a big heart. Fantastic, friendly staff, Paddy (the owner) has a lifetime of stories and only too willing to regale you with a few, add a cold glass of Guinness and that makes for a perfect afternoon. Could it get any better? Yes… be there on a Sunday after 4pm and you have a group of musicians adding some lively Irish tunes to the atmosphere. Do yourself a favour and drop in for a visit.
