Calypso Fruit & Sandwich Bar - Cairns

I've been here twice now and enjoyed it both times. The coffee is the cheapest I've found in Australia so far and it's really delicious. The food is good value too and tasty :D contrary to other reviews I've just read about this place, I found the staff to be friendly. I will definitely return again and again whilst I'm in Cairns!

You can enjoy breakfast all day at this restaurant in Cairns. The prices are good and they offer free wifi. The staff is attentive, though not as friendly as other places. I would recommend this restaurant for a solid breakfast option in Cairns.

Came with a family of 2, 2 adults and 2 kids for lunch and a coffee. I think we came at the right time as we got our order in and then they got very busy. Lots of seating outside only on a busy corner, so lots of people watching. I found the menu good, lots to choose from and an all day breakfast. Drinks came out first and the food not long after. We were happy with what we got and the food size and taste were great. The birds hang around waiting to get any scraps when people leave and I can see this is a problem for the owners. they try to get to the food before the birds swoop in. Fun watching the birds eat as much as they can before the plates are taken away. I would recommend. If its busy though it maybe a wait.

We found this cafe and decided to have a coffee and book our next flight in Australia (they advertise free Wifi). SHORTLY after receiving our coffee and wifi they changed the password to cut us off while we were in the middle of booking the flight... Apparently we had finished our coffee and they told us to get out or buy more. So we did. After buying more overpriced coffee, they wouldn't give us the password. After we paid. Beautiful... Might not have even been so upset if the owners (husband and wife I assume) weren't incredibly rude to us. I'm not the type of person to even leave a review like this, but I was so offended I went out of my way to write this.We were the only people in the place. They sure work hard to drive away business. Never ever go there.

I was searching for a coffee shop where I could enjoy a good cup of coffee, use fast wifi for some quiet research, and I found it! The food menu may be simple (though I didn't try anything), but the coffee was delicious and made by friendly staff. I was pleased with the fast internet connection. The location at the corner of Lake Street and Shield Street can get quite busy, but overall, I was satisfied with the service and location.
