Contribuiți la feedbackThe restaurant offers a nice variety of drinks and their waffles are made to order, ensuring they are fresh and hot. They also have shaved ice and sandwiches available. I found the shaved ice and waffles to be delicious in taste.
The greatest thing is, they open till late at nights and the worst is, almost always, it is noisily crowded and loaded by students ... Waffles and drinks are ok but that great though, they don't worth for their prices and the other issue is, this place doesn't accept credit cards, Only Cash and Debit ... comfy furniture, number of plugs, good WiFi, clean area and polite staff ... are considerable.
I first heard about Tealips cafe from a friend a while back. To my delight, I discovered that there was a nearby dessert waffle spot. Excited to try it out, I quickly convinced my friend Hitman to accompany me on multiple occasions - both for dessert and lunch. Our initial visit was for dessert after dinner, and since the place was crowded, we had to take our order to go. Being a fan of mochi, I chose the Matcha Red Bean Waffle in the liege style for its chewy texture, topped with red bean paste, vanilla ice cream, and dusted with matcha powder.
After enjoying a affordable dinner at Hi Genki Japanese Restaurant nearby, we decided to satisfy our sweet tooth at Cafe Tealips. Tucked away at 7139 Arcola Way behind Highgate Village in Burnaby, this bubble tea spot may seem typical for the Vancouver area, but it's anything but.
I've heard about the wonderful desserts of Tealips for the longest time but have never gone by because 1) I'm never in the area and 2) it was pretty hard to find. No matter, that's what the GPS and food cravings are for! We decided to share a brussels matcha waffle because matcha is the best and the fact that it came with mochi balls had us sold. I liked the brussels waffle and it stayed crispy holding up to the almost melty matcha ice cream on top. I found that it started to get a little too sweet for my liking about a quarter of the way through though because the red bean made everything all the sweeter. But my hojicha latte helped balance it out with the slight bitterness of the tea. I've only ever had hojicha lattes in Asia before so it was nice to have it again. I can't say that it was as good but it came a pretty close second.
