Worst food I had in many years, happy I made it alive. service was good, very friendly and professional, and wein was delicious.
My partner and I were there on 31st august. we used to go to the filiale in the lavalle street, but it has already closed. the waiters took us almost 20', and the restaurant was almost empty. most of them are old waiters, and apparently they have a union that spoils them. When I called the manager, she came with two menus and gave them to another couple. I protested because we had arrived earlier. when we were ready to leave a Peruvian waiter, came and calmed us. the chorizo (sausage) was a bit burned. the bife de chorizo was in order, but the bife de lomo was not tender. the souffle french pommes were as always spectacular.
Old school Buenos Aires place, nothing fancy, do not expect nouvelle cuisine. Well known and well deserved reputation for puffed French fries. Well located for after theatre dinner, but be ready to wait. Not many other options nearby, except for pizza places.
This place was a favorite of my parents in the 50s and 60s and of other relatives visiting Buenos Aires in the following decades. It is definitely not great anymore.
