Basket of bread and butter, that seems to be the norm around here in all restaurants. They waitress was awesome and asked if we wanted separate checks and that was nice as most of the other places we went the staff drowned upon us when we requested. CHERRY LAMBIC (belle vue kriek) God and Angel's made this beer, I love it, it tasted like fruit punch but with alcohol in it. BRUSSELS SEA FOOD real bad. The taste of the croquette was almost like I could taste the oil and the flour where the coquette gets its heaviness. Real heavy and unapatizing the calamari was also heavy on the batter and oily. I could not eat it. The wait staff didn't even realize I didn't like and didn't touch the food. even though I did not touch the plate I probably ate one or two items and could not keep going, the taste of the oil where the meal was fried was pretty overwhelming and the meal itself was blend, that is the reason why the oil was so prominent in my opinion. in the end of the day the place is spacious and the staff is pretty ok, the drinks are good and the food comes fast. I wanna give the benefit of the doubt that I am the one that chose an unfortunate meal, so if you go there try something else and let us know what you think.
A solid restaurant choice if you were nearby. The restaurant is not huge but spacious enough to seat many people: small party or large party. Its shrimp dish 12.9 euros is flavorful and juicy. The soup of day (carrot, leek, or others) is portioned right for the 6.6 euros it charges for. Sparkling water is 2.6 euros and rose wine is 3.6 euros. It's not cheap but the prices are not outrageous, either. I also tried its strawberry waffle 6.9 euros. Not bad at all but I'd definitely take my waffle business to Dandoy! A good choice for lunch or dinner. Food is served fast and service is quick.
Average food. We stopped by for dinner as it was close to our hotel. The calamari started for 9.90€ was decent 10 pieces that were lightly fried and served with a small salad (probably a garnish but ate like a salad . We ordered a bacon cheeseburger cooked well (14.50€ and the lamb chops cooked medium (18.90€ We received a medium burger and well lamb chops. The fries were...disappointing. They did not have the expected crunch and were a bit on the cold side. I chose the bernaise sauce for the lamb chops but regretted it. It was separating when it came to the table and it lacked flavor. The lamb chops were better off without the sauce. I'd skip this restaurant if you have other options.
First the positive. Nice enough staff. Might have been short as service was a bit slow. Lots of people watching and emails to answer so I didn't care. Place smelled a little musty. Ok onto the rest of it. I ordered the chicken curry. I'm not sure what I received but it was NOT curry. Tasted more like a chicken mush stew. I was worried when it came out brown and not smelling whatsoever like curry. Tasted pretty awed il but I was really hungry and figured with enough beer I could choke it down. The rice it came with was over cooked and tasteless. How do you screwup rice...? I guess the cook can't call him/her a chef) hit one too many buttons on microwave. Save yourself the misery and hit one of the better places close by. This place is not serious about their food but just chasing the easy money of tourist in all of the nearby hotels.
Perhaps it's too much to expect that a restaurant that advertises itself as a western style grill would be friendly to Americans. I would think it's a no brainer. But the staff was rude and very inattentive. My wife and I stopped by for lunch and found the food to be average, the prices high, and the service to be poor. Really there's no good reason to eat here. We won't return.
