Well, I think I should say farewell to the Café 530 because it was sold and now named the Café On. The new management is running by a team of passionate Asian ladies. They serve the Toby Estate coffee which is one of my favourites. Had not read the new menu because my gaze was caught by one of their daily special of 'Sweet corn Chicken soup ' which is an hot item in all Chinese restaurant and definitely matches my taste buds so rushed for it. Took a seat at one side of the dining area where I can overlook outside view and inside counter. It did not take a long time to have my orders on the table. Wow, nice coffee art drew back my attention from day-dreaming and the nice caffeine did wake me up. When I have the first spoon of the soup, I smiled with satisfaction. Yes! They nailed it not only because the degree of thickening of the soup which was absolutely perfect matched with the piece of baguette but also the subtle saltiness from the chicken breast pieces that 'sing '. Marvellous job! I will definitely return!
Having been to quite a few of the brunch places in New Farm, one that has really caught my eye was Five Thirty on Brunswick, which patrons have posted quite a number of highly captivating foodie photos online. Being situated along Brunswick Street, we had a bit of trouble finding parking, and had to walk a fair while until we arrived at the restaurant.
I've been here many times before, and I have to say that what draws me here is the customer service. The girls are lovely and will ensure that you are happy. The coffee here is always on point, and the food is rustic but it has a charm to it that is rare in a place as busy as New Farm. For anyone looking for a quiet place to relax and watch the world go by over a cup of coffee or light breakfast/lunch, this is the place for you.
I 've seen many reinvented versions of this address of my many years of being a new farm local. Many have come.... many have left. This is one of the better reincarnations, the food is nice, without being a standout. It 's plentiful, seems to have high quality ingredients great value.I had a cajan chicken sandwich a large coffee for just over $10. Service was very friendly welcoming. My suggestion would be to fix the audio in the side dining area, the music wasn 't pleasant, crackley, sporadic odd possibly latinoesque which seemed out of place. I 'm also developing a taste for 'Toby 's Estate ' coffee. I had another delicious mug here.Great place, I hope they 're here to stay.
Really really good coffee, friendly staff and a teddy bear theme that even gets the manliest man (me, duh) in a happy mood on a work-bound morning. Throw in some smashed avo on toast and Five Thirty is nailing mornings!
