The Croft Kitchen - Biggleswade

The meal and service at this restaurant were excellent. It was a special occasion, so we opted for the set menu, which made it easy as there was only one option that pushed me out of my comfort zone. The black pudding starter was very tasty, and the fish and chips were to die for - I have never had better. The meal was finished off with a selection of delicious cheeses and homemade cookies. The Passamento Red wine that accompanied the meal was fantastic and complemented the dishes perfectly. There were small, thoughtful touches throughout the meal that showcased the skill of the chef. The food presentation and additional extras were executed flawlessly. My partner particularly enjoyed the cheese course.

The restaurant had some nice touches, like the delicious house bread and Petit Fours. However, the ambiance in the room was lacking, despite being in a beautiful old building. The cutlery and glasses felt cheap, and the overall feel of the table did not match the price of the meal. The salt cod croquettes were decent, but the overwhelming amount of paprika was off-putting. The presentation of the food on the plate was satisfactory. The service was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the location of the restaurant was disappointing, surrounded by parking and a supermarket. If it were my restaurant, I would make sure to clean up the outside area to ensure that customers leaving the restaurant are not greeted by a large amount of trash.

Despite all the hype, I was extremely disappointed by the lacklustre food choices at this restaurant. The ambiance was lacking, with a cold and clinical atmosphere that was not conducive to a cozy conversation or a relaxing meal. I will not be returning.

Food and service still excellent. This was our third visit and how the food was raised before. Thanks Croft Kitchen. We'll be back.
