So we decided to leave the highway in Ruhland and drive the last kilometers home by road. My wife searched for suitable localities on the phone, and at the same time we came to the “Green Forest” in Bernsdorf near Hoyerswerda. But something didn't seem to be right there. Behind the address was a Russian/Ukrainian restaurant. Mmmmh..... Family council in the car short and good, well then we stop there. The “Green Forest” restaurant is located in the centre of the small town of Bernsdorf, directly on the B97 between Dresden and Hoyerswerda. Parking is available directly next to the restaurant, or on the opposite side of the street with various discounters. The house includes a large hall, a guest house, another room for various celebrations and a pension. The whole shop is run by a native Ukrainian who is now married to a Bernsdorfer. Ambiente: With its sober nature and its size (also based on the height of the rooms), the Gaststube reminds of a railway station restaurant rather than a Russian restaurant. Theke Damped Light makes all this even dark, very good to see the partially miserable photos. I was almost too dark, almost exhausting for my eyes. The tables, on the other hand, are sufficiently large, the chairs are cozy and pleasantly padded. That's what you think. All tables are also decorated with colorful fabric table cloths, but pretty is different..... Operation: When we came to the restaurant, this was completely empty. At a table in the corner, the family council of the owners just met, the phone rings uninterrupted, as soon a Russian evening arrived. From a distance we were instructed to take one of the free places. The first impression was not good. We thought to do it again. Apparently this was noticed by the boss and tried to us, and asked us to a table. At the same time the card was handed over and asked for drinks immediately. But how should I know what to drink??? So we discussed a short reading break. So while we first studied the map, the family council continued. After we had finally studied the rich card, the boss returned and accepted the order. Then there was a family council again. That's what happened throughout our stay. Customer-oriented is different.... The food: As drinks, my little one chose a birch juice for 2,10 €, my big one Kiba for 3,50 €, my wife a bitter Lemon for 1,90 € Russian Baltic beer and I a Russian Baltic beer for 3,50 €. As an appetizer, my smallest Pelmenis with Smietanatupfer wished for €5.20, we forgot another appetizer, nasty for it at the small one. As a main dish, my wife chose the Ukrainian chicken pot with colorful paprika and potato pieces in a herbal cream sauce for 9,90 €, my big daughter chose pork medals with tomato-paprika cheese sauce, with homemade croquettes for 12,80 €, the small wished the Russian bulettes with garlic berat potatoes, served with 2 russian salad But the boss should serve the vodka right away... I chose a Ukrainian pork carving “Seljanska Vtiha” with twisting scaffolds, self-laid tomatoes and cucumbers for 10.80 €. After placing our order in the kitchen, you could hear grief, knock and fry. So we were sure that everything was freshly dressed and not coming out of the “ping”. After just 20 minutes, the Pelmenis came to the table with smietanate beetle. From the Schnitzel, if you can call it that, I was disappointed. A thin slice of meat, a few millimeters thick, covered with ovine. That was nothing from the crowd.... And the taste ultimately lacked in view of the low meat strength. Too bad. The other dishes were good to very good, here at the Schnitzel there is only a lack of me. Russian ice As a conclusion, the two daughters had to enjoy a Russian ice cream for 3,10 € each. This was something for the eye. Typical, tasty, creamy Russian ice cream, as we still know from our childhood. Fresh cream and cut grapes. Cleanliness: As far as the restaurant as well as the toilets was well maintained and clean, only in the tablecloth disturbed me a few spots that could not be removed during washing. I guess the table top should be replaced as soon as possible. Result: From the name and from the outside, nobody here suspects a Russian/Ukrainian cuisine. The ambience is meticulous, the food was outstanding up to my. The service had to do other than to try for us as the only guest. On the basis of the flyers in the local area and the constantly incoming calls, you seem to earn money here with Russian evenings. According to the boss, both hall and guestroom are full at these dates. Rest cards are still available for dates in a quarter of a year. We will test the place and operation again in November. Just for such an evening, but as normal guests in the guest room. Let's see if Oleksandra then goes to the top form. And I will definitely not order a Ukrainian carving again.
