Mare Island Brewing Co. – First Street Taphouse

After a recent midday trip to Benicia, we were hungry. I have been to several other restaurants on 1st Street and enjoyed them all. I will finish those reviews soon. It was my suggestion to have lunch here. We could leave the car parked and it was a short walk. Happily, it was a good choice. I ordered the Shrimp and Asparagus salad, and it was delicious. The salad consisted of mixed greens, avocado slices, cherry tomatoes, a semi-hardboiled egg, and asparagus topped off with two skewers of grilled shrimp. The Louie dressing was served on the slide. K had the pulled pork sandwich. The interior was pleasant, the bathrooms were clean, and the service was attentive.The Taproom is on my list for a return visit.

I 've been a #yardbird since day one at the Ferry Taproom. All 3 locations are fantastic. The last time we visited the 1st Street location, we had our Golden Retriever Bingo with us. Bingo passed in August of this year.Today, we hiked Benicia State Park. It was a glorious morning. After our hike, we stopped at the 1st Street Taproom for some lunch. We watched all the trick or treaters as we had a beer, a mimosa, and some sliders.The bartender was phenomenal. I don 't think he ever stopped smiling. Such a welcoming ambiance. Costumes were fantastic (see photo).Chef David and staff nailed it. Sliders were spot on, and the bread pudding we took home with us... So good!

Great vibe and awesome sliders and other food. Beer was delicious of course.

This is the downtown Benicia location of the Mare Island Brew Co. We came to eat lunch during a dog festival so parking was tricky but it seems like a normal day would be easy. Good selection for pub fare. The cheese panini and truffle fries were tasty. The sliders looked good. Beers were great. Indoor and outdoor seating. Beware that indoor acoustics make it difficult to hear.

I really enjoy the MIBC 1st Street Taphouse! I think their Shrimp and Asparagus Louis salad is fantastic very fresh greens, perfectly ripe avocado, colorful tiny tomatoes, yummy semi hard boiled egg and asparagus that has been ever so slightly parboiled or steamed so that it's taste and texture are delightful! Don't want to forget the 5 nicely sized grilled shrimp that top it off ! Difficult to beat that combination of flavors.Service is friendly, prompt and easy going too. Give them a try!
