Come with family to discover the famous axoa we were delighted with our culinary experience. You smell in the dish than the profession. Following the advice of trip advisor, we went there! the tables full, we waited but the waitress was doing like nothing! So we came back to ask for information from another waitress! Finally, she sent us a shepherd! I think this restaurant isn't friendly or going when you don't mind them.

I booked this restaurant halfway from my journey towards the spook and the galice to give me a taste of dishes that come out of the ordinary. So already the entrance was excellent, well seasoned, nothing to say. Then the axoa (pronounced achoa), a typical dish of the corner that was prepared in the rules of art.And for dessert, a Basque pie that was excellent. In an aperitif, I recommend the kir cassis which is the best at kilometers to long.

We booked a table here and the owner set it all up inside for the evening. Very, very little English is spoken and there is no menu - apart from very rapid french you are shown a framed piece of writing that mentions a dish for each course. She was very good though and bought us out a local minced dish to taste.I went with that and we explained in stilted French that my husband would like a pork dish. The lady in charge seemed to cook, serve and do everything. She was a real character and every time we ordered something or she came to the table she turned to the whole restaurant and made some joke. They were all laughing good humourdly but we had no idea what the joke was or what was going on - apart from when we ordered a starter between us and it seemed as if she was saying my husband was mean. No malice just a jokey conversation and she had such energy rushing from one place to another.We really did have a good entertaining evening here and the food was good value. We were given a complimentary drink at the end. I would recommend a visit by everyone if you are staying in Bayonne. Fantastic - entertainment as well as good food.
