Blank Canvas - Batemans Bay

Had dinner with friends on Saturday night. The food was delicious, the aromas were wonderful, and the service was great. The cook/owner even came out to chat with us, which was a nice touch. Will definitely be back!

The food was great and the service was even better. Our children wanted extra sauces that were no problem and free. Thanks for the great lunch!

Blank was formerly our favorite restaurant in Bateman 's Bay and when it was reopened to CV19 Lockdown, we were very pleased and could not wait to come back The food was still good, but perhaps not as good as it was, the service was friendly and excellent ....However, when reviewing our bill later I discovered that we had been charged 50c for the additional dish we requested. This left a really bad taste and we will hesitate to visit again as we often share a main course. I checked this with some other cafes we visited when this was a new post-covid regular fee, and all said no, and were overwhelmed. This is really bad customer relationships, and I hope the new owners will note that this gripping of an extra 50c is not worth the bad PR will make it.

Reopened with new owners in early 2021. Same great setting, that’s where similarities end unfortunately. Limited lunch menu with options like burger, parmigiana, fish and chips all okay but nothing noteworthy. Had the salt and pepper squid special, plenty of it for good price...but thick batter was gross. Shame, cafe has great potential but just average.

The pot of tea I ordered came with two large tea bags, making the tea so strong that it was undrinkable. I asked for a pot of hot water to dilute the tea, but it was still too strong. They had to make another pot of tea by the time I finished my breakfast. The restaurant needs to improve their quality of food and service if they want to succeed. The location is great, so serving well-cooked, high-quality food will help them thrive. I will give them another try, but I was very disappointed with my experience.
