Please, please, tell me they have re-opened the restaurant elsewhere in Barrie. I can't imagine not eating there again. This breaks my heart. They always remembered us and were so happy to see us, I even had a "special order teriyaki" they always remembered, I never needed to ask. I will miss them!!
I have never had pork bone or pork neck soup that can compare with Sakura. For $10 you are served a veritable feast, that keeps me coming back religiously.
Decided to grab a fast lunch while out and decided to take a chance on this place. Don't let its looks fool you and ask for the Korean menu. The Korean food is great, especially the pork bone. The staff is friendly, the chef is good and the experience was great. Total surprise. Will we be back? You bet!
In the Kozlov mall is this hidden gem of comfort korean/japanese food. If you're looking for chicken teriyaki or feel a little bit more adventurous from your normal meat and potato food, this is the place to go! A classic combination of food to order is the Jajangmyun ( black bean noodle) and Gamponggi (spicy crispy chicken). Another really good dish they serve up is Gamjatang (pork bone soup) This soup is made from braising pork neck bone in a semi-spicy broth for hours. Served up bubbling hot in a clay bowl with halves of potato. Any cold weather could be beaten off with this soup. I recommend this highly!!It wouldn't be korean if you didn't have kimchi as a side dish! This is a spicy pickled napa cabbage that is the staple of every korean household. Very similar to sauerkraut but with a kick!All-in-all, I highly recommend this place despite it being in a food court. Don't let appearances deceive you.
Deep within the Kozlov mall in Barrie is an fantastic little food kiosk that serves the best Katsu-don I've ever tasted!
