We don't pass through this area often, and sadly, we no longer have a Catfish King in or around Longview, TX. Despite the fact that they were closing in 30 minutes, we decided to stop anyway. The staff were very helpful and friendly. My wife and I both ordered the 7-piece fried catfish plates with 2 sides (we chose fries and coleslaw), which cost $16 each. We also got an order of delicious onion rings. The portions were generous and the fish was cooked perfectly in a cornmeal batter. It was simple and delicious. The restaurant has a rustic log cabin look, which was their style 40 years ago. The interior and exterior were clean, including the restrooms. Although some may find the appearance outdated, it's actually part of the restaurant's design. They do not have a salad bar or buffet like other Catfish King locations, but they do offer free beans and excellent hush puppies. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back.
The food was not as good as it was during my last visit. We had two different waitresses serving us - one was extremely rude, tossing our order number, pen, and receipt at us, while the other was very friendly. I have no intention of going back to this restaurant.
